Catherine "Claire" Thompson LSW
Claire received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Arts in Social Work from Rutgers University. Her experience prior to becoming a therapist began in the areas of teaching and tutoring children from ages 3- grade 5. Claire then began as a behavioral technician for children ages 3-8 with autism, providing group therapy for parents of children with autism as well. After she completed her undergraduate education, Claire became a group facilitator and case manager for adults with co-occurring disorders. She returned to graduate school and expanded her experience in trauma-informed care, while interning at Rutgers Veterans House, providing group and individual therapy to undergraduate and graduate veterans, experiencing symptoms of mental illness. After graduating with her Masters and license in social work, Claire returned again to working with adults and adolescents with co-occurring disorders, providing individual and group therapy, where she currently works full-time.
Get to Know Catherine "Claire"
Claire began playing violin at age 6, and believes that music has a powerful way of helping individuals cope with life’s stressors, and process deep emotions and traumatic memories. Yoga and exercise became a staple of her daily life starting at age 6. Claire became an athlete at age 7, and considers herself an athlete to this day. She left the world of swimming and running and is now a weightlifter. ClaireI enjoys spending time with her golden doodle, Bellamy. Hiking, spending time at the beach, going to the dog park, and traveling are her favorite activities to do together. Claire comes from a very large family and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as quality time is what she values most. Claire enjoys reading and writing, especially reading her favorite poet Maya Angelou. Her favorite quote from her is:
