Mary Lugli MA, LAC

Clinician

Mary Lugli earned her Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from William Paterson University and is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both group and outpatient settings.

Mary has worked with adolescents and young adults, particularly those with ADHD, supporting clients with challenges related to focus, motivation, emotional regulation, identity development and self-esteem. She works collaboratively with clients to build practical, realistic strategies that support lasting change.

She also works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, and life transitions. Mary has a particular interest in supporting women as they navigate the demands of daily life and evolving roles, while also providing a comfortable and approachable space for men. She is LGBTQ+ affirming and committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment where clients can feel safe being themselves.

Mary takes an integrative, trauma-informed approach to therapy, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Adlerian and existential approaches, and mindfulness-based practices. She helps clients build insight while also developing skills they can use in their daily lives.

She also incorporates a holistic, mind-body perspective and integrates sensory-based grounding and sound-informed relaxation techniques to support nervous system regulation and promote greater calm and balance.

Mary believes in creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can be themselves and works collaboratively to support meaningful, manageable change.

Get to Know Mary

Outside of work, I value the parts of life that feel simple, grounding, and meaningful. I am a wife and a mom of four, so life is often busy, a little chaotic at times, but also full in a way that I wouldn’t trade. I also have two dogs and a cat who keep things interesting.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being by the beach and around the water, gardening, and finding small ways to slow things down. I also enjoy crafting, reading when I can, and have a personal interest in sound-based practices, including crystal singing bowls, to support relaxation and grounding.

I’ve come to appreciate the simple moments, like a good meal out, a walk by the water, or a quiet pause in the middle of a busy day. I try to carry that same sense of balance into the way I show up for my clients.

I believe therapy should feel real, comfortable, and approachable. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start, and having a space to slow down and sort things out can make a meaningful difference.
