Kara graduated from the University of Rhode Island (URI) in 2021 earning a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Human Development & Family Science. During her studies, Kara created and facilitated undergraduate research examining the developmental effects of COVID-19 on preschool children, strengthening her passion for understanding and learning about the human experience. Kara later earned her Masters in Social Work from Widener University and currently holds an LSW in New Jersey.

Kara has clinical experience working with clients 12+. She first interned at a transitional living program for youth aged 18-21 with housing instability. Here, Kara provided individual and group sessions for all residents with a focus on fostering independence and life skills. Kara then interned here at ICCC and worked within our Community Outreach Program, offering mental health services to clients ranging from early adolescence to late adulthood. Kara also assisted within our Women’s DBT Skills Group and at Integrated Adolescence (IA), our PHP/IOP program for teens. She was then hired as one of the first Mental Health Associates for IA Toms River, being a member of the clinical team and running a variety of groups.

Kara is now an outpatient clinician who takes on an eclectic and authentic approach with clients. This includes being trauma-informed and inclusive. Kara aims to create a space that is accepting and non-judgmental so that all clients can feel safe, seen, and heard being their true selves.

Get to Know Kara

Kara was born and raised in Monmouth County, New Jersey. She loves nature, traveling, being active, practicing mindfulness, reading, and engaging in creative projects like arts and crafts. She has two cats, Sugar and Sky, and enjoys watching TV, playing board games, and spending time with loved ones. Kara loves learning and trying new things such as exploring new places. She recently drove across the country, visiting many national parks, and moved to San Diego, CA before moving back to the east coast. Kara actively practices creating a fun life worth living and loves to help others do the same.
