Nancy Niedermeyer, MS, NCC, LAC
Licensed Associate Counselor
Nancy earned her Masters of Science degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University-C.W. Post Campus and her Professional Counselor Graduate Certificate from Georgian Court University. Her clinical internship experience was at an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. Because of Nancy’s personal journey of becoming a young widow after 9/11 she has a special place in her heart for individuals and families coping with traumatic loss. She believes in the therapist providing a framework for the client’s self- healing capabilities.
Nancy’s time outside of work is spent raising her two children, taking her therapy dog to visit schools, and serving as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister in the Pastoral Care department of a local hospital.
Nancy is working towards certification in an innovative and powerful new therapeutic technique called Brainspotting. Brainspotting utilizes the brain’s own healing capacities. It involves locating a spot in your field of vision that pairs with your bodies’ felt sense and it fosters reprocessing of past traumas. Her counseling style is Client Centered integrated with CBT elements, and enhanced with Brainspotting.
One of Nancy’s favorite quotes is by Dr. Miriam Rose Ungunmerr and reflects her thoughts on the sacredness of listening and inner healing.
“To know me is to breathe with me. To breathe with me is to listen deeply. To listen deeply is to connect.”
