Michael is dedicated to self-care and actively participates in mental and physical wellness activities to continue to grow and develop as a person and a counselor. While completing his undergraduate studies at UMBC, Michael was a division 1 track and field decathlete which played a major part in Michael’s view of the body and mind relationship. He has continued his passion for physical activities as he is an avid skier, skimboarder, hiker, and camper. He also engages in self-exploration by meditating and practicing mindfulness to improve his sense of being as a person and counselor.
Michael’s theoretical frame work is based within Adlerian and Existential concepts. Within their journey together, Michael and his clients may explore how past experiences and patterns along with future goals and desires affect present-day experiences. He believes that both past and present exploration is the key to present-day changes. Exploration of these experiences includes one’s feelings, thoughts, behaviors, perceptions, and processes which allows a person to gain better insight and make changes. This holistic point of view allows him to better understand a person in their entirety.
