Licensed Associate Counselor, NCC, SAC
Jen completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ. She completed her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Monmouth University as well. Jen also earned her Substance Awareness Coordinator certification (SAC) during Graduate School. She has a specialty certification in couples and family counseling. During graduate school she was recognized for her high honors and academic success. At the time of graduation she was awarded for community leadership and service as well as leadership in counseling for being president of the Student Counseling Association for 2 years.
Jen offers a genuine, accepting, compassionate form of counseling. She believes awareness is the key, from there growth and change can begin. The therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client means we work together. Jen sees her clients as fellow travelers. Jen practices within a safe, therapeutic space where there is no judgement, but an abundance of empathy. Jen’s theoretical approach focuses on psychodynamic techniques and existentialism. She believes in the unconscious mind and creating purpose. Jen appreciates the mind/body connection, sharing mindfulness skills as well. Also, Jen has an interest in human sexuality. In the near future, she will be going back to school to complete her certification in Sex Therapy.
In addition to ICC, Jen teaches as an adjunct professor at both Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ and Monmouth University. She teaches psychology classes such as Intro to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Human Growth and Development, and she created her own class at Monmouth called Psychology of Sex.
Jen believes and practices self-care and self-exploration which is crucial in order to maintain a life of awareness and growth. Jen views that every experience, positive or negative, has a goal that leads to a life of healing and progress. She also believes it is truly important to keep an open mind.
